DHS announces TPS for Nepal

The Secretary of Homeland Security announced that Nepal will be designated for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) because of the recent earthquake on April 25, 2015.  Nationals of Nepal who currently reside in the United States are eligible to apply for TPS with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)

The designation for TPS became effective on June 24, 2015 and will remain in effect until December 24, 2016. TPS establishes that eligible Nepalese nationals in the United States will not be subjected to removal from the United States.  Additionally, those individuals who qualify for TPS may receive Employment Authorization.  Eligible individuals must register during the designated registration period which runs from June 24, 2015 through December 21, 2015.

Individuals from Nepal will qualify for TPS if they can demonstrate that they have been continuously present in the United States and that they have continuously resided in the United States since June 24, 2015. Nepalese nationals must complete a security check to verify that they have no serious criminal offenses.

If you are from Nepal and would like to discuss your options and eligibility to qualify for TPS, please contact Bagia and Associates at (215) 922-5354 for a consultation.
